The cleanup company wants me to sign an assignment of claim. Do I have to?
Claims
No. An assignment of claim lets the insurer pay the company directly. It’s simpler, but you have less control over costs. You can set a maximum amount in it, or ask for the final cheque to be made out to you and the company.
A general answer. Your policy always has the final say.
