Is insurance mandatory?
General
For a car, yes: civil liability (Chapter A) is mandatory, with a $50,000 minimum. For a home, the law generally doesn’t require it, but your mortgage lender or your lease can. Condo owners must carry liability: $1,000,000, or $2,000,000 if the building has 13 units or more.
A general answer. Your policy always has the final say.
