I rent and have no insurance. What’s the risk?

Home

The law doesn’t require you to be insured, but your lease can. Without insurance, you pay for your lost belongings and the damage you cause yourself. A fire starts in your unit? The landlord’s insurer pays for the building, then it can send you the bill.
