My upstairs neighbour caused water damage in my place. Who pays?

Home

Your own policy pays for your damaged belongings, minus your deductible. Your insurer can then recover the money from whoever was responsible. If you rent and have no insurance, you’d have to claim from the neighbour yourself.

A question about your own policy?

This site explains the general rules. Only your insurer can say what your policy covers: ask your agent or broker. This site doesn’t make recommendations. To choose coverage, also talk to a certified professional.
